Aspen winter rubber boot in army block from Bundgaard. The model is made of natural rubber and lined with a warm and soft wool blend. Aspen is the winter version of the popular Bundgaard Charly boot and is designed to keep feet warm and dry during cold and wet months.

Aspen has a wide fit at the front and a slightly narrower heel, which provides support and a secure fit for many children’s feet. The boot is waterproof and flexible, allowing natural movement. A reflective detail on the back ensures visibility in the dark.

The boot is part of Bundgaard’s barefoot collection. Barefoot shoes are designed with relatively thin and flexible soles, a wide toe box and no heel drop. They give room for natural foot movement and mimic the feeling of walking barefoot.

Size guide and measurements

The boots are standard in size. At MilkyWalk, we measure all shoes and models each season with an internal measuring device. Our measurements show the actual space inside the boot – not the length of the insole. The insole may be slightly shorter or longer than the inner space. Since we measure all shoes ourselves, our measurements may differ from the manufacturer’s information.

MilkyWalk’s recommendations on winter rubber boots

Winter rubber boots – or thermo rubber boots – are a great addition to children’s wardrobes, especially in kindergarten age, and almost indispensable in forest kindergartens. However, we do not recommend using them as the primary winter shoe, as breathability in rubber boots is limited. Just as ordinary rubber boots should not be the only shoe in summer, winter rubber boots should not stand alone in winter. Feet become too enclosed if worn for many hours every day.

In winter, it is a good idea to have at least two pairs of shoes to alternate between, so there is always a dry pair available if one gets wet. Winter rubber boots like these work perfectly as one of the pairs. Keep in mind that if used in milder weather, condensation can quickly occur, precisely because breathability in rubber is limited. It is therefore important to let the boots dry completely before using them again.
